Blades Brown shot a ten-under 61 on Friday to take the halfway lead at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, strengthening his position in the season-long race for a 2027 PGA Tour card.
Brown stood at thirteen under after two rounds, one shot ahead of Austin Hitt, Ian Holt and Barend Botha. Hitt also went low Friday with a 62, but Brown’s closing stretch gave him the lead entering the weekend.
The Korn Ferry Tour’s official account posted video of Brown’s round Friday afternoon, confirming the 61 and his place atop the leaderboard.

His round accelerated around the turn. Brown made consecutive eagles on the ninth and tenth holes, then continued to collect birdies as he finished. Those two eagles helped turn a promising round into the best score of the day.
The tournament lead carries another consequence. The top twenty in the season-long Korn Ferry Tour points standings earn PGA Tour cards for next season. Brown entered this week fourteenth, with his card still unsecured; Golfweek reported that his second-round performance moved him to a projected fourth.
That projection can change through the final two rounds. Brown has improved his position substantially, but a Friday leaderboard cannot confirm the Sunday points order or award him a card early.
Brown turned professional at seventeen, choosing a direct route through professional tournaments. Earlier this year, a tie for fourteenth at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson earned him Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour. He then pursued the Korn Ferry Tour points that could give him full status for next season.
Friday’s performance gives him a strong chance to finish that work. He holds a one-shot tournament lead and a much higher projected place in the points standings, with two rounds remaining to settle both outcomes.
