Burrow throws four touchdowns as Bengals hold off Dolphins, 31-24

Chase’s one-handed 45-yard score and Battle’s two interceptions help Cincinnati enter its bye with a win.

  • Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes and Jordan Battle intercepted Malik Willis twice as Cincinnati beat Miami 31-24 Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium. The Bengals ended a two-game losing streak, improved to 3-2 and left the Dolphins at 0-5.

    Ja'Marr Chase supplied the afternoon's biggest offensive play, catching a 45-yard touchdown with one hand late in the third quarter. The score made it 28-10 and gave Burrow a touchdown pass to four different receivers. Chase, returning after a concussion the previous week, finished with six catches for 77 yards.

  • Cincinnati started with an advantage before its offense took a snap. Dohnte Meyers returned the opening kickoff 81 yards to the Miami 10. Three plays later, Burrow found former Dolphin Mike Gesicki for a four-yard touchdown.

  • Miami answered with an 11-play, 60-yard drive that included 51 rushing yards and no completed passes. Ollie Gordon II finished it with a one-yard touchdown run. Gordon led the Dolphins with 88 yards on 18 carries, and Willis added 74 rushing yards.

    Burrow restored Cincinnati's lead with a six-yard touchdown pass to Samaje Perine early in the second quarter. Perine also led the Bengals on the ground with 68 yards on 14 carries.

  • Battle then intercepted Willis on consecutive Miami possessions. Boye Mafe tipped the first pass at the line of scrimmage. Battle's second takeaway helped set up Burrow's two-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Hudson with 55 seconds left before halftime, sending Cincinnati into the break ahead 21-7.

  • The Dolphins reached the Cincinnati 1 late in the third quarter but settled for a field goal after an eight-yard sack and an incomplete pass. Chase's touchdown followed on the Bengals' next possession.

    Miami kept working back. Willis found Kevin Coleman Jr. for a three-yard touchdown, then hit Greg Dulcich for the two-point conversion to make it 28-18. Evan McPherson answered with a 26-yard field goal before Willis scored on a one-yard run with 45 seconds left. Riley Patterson missed the extra point, and Miami's onside kick went out of bounds.

    Burrow finished 23 of 32 for 190 yards without an interception. Willis went 15 of 27 for 137 yards with one passing touchdown and two interceptions. Dolphins guard Jonah Savaiinaea left with an ankle injury and did not return. Both teams have a Week 6 bye.
