Chargers reach six losses as another touchdown-free afternoon ends 22-6 in Kansas City
Walker scores twice, while a long Johnston catch and a recovered punt return produce little for Los Angeles.

A 57-yard reception should have changed the Chargers' afternoon. Instead, Quentin Johnston's big third-quarter play became another drive that ended with a field goal.
Los Angeles lost 22-6 to Kansas City on Sunday and fell to 0-6. The Chargers never reached the end zone, even after an end-zone interception and a recovered fumbled punt return gave them chances to change the game.
Kenneth Walker III supplied the contrast with two touchdown runs and 128 rushing yards. The unbeaten Chiefs moved to 5-0 without needing a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.

Hart supplies a stop the offense cannot build on
Kansas City scored first on Harrison Butker's 44-yard field goal and Walker's 33-yard touchdown run. A missed extra point left the margin at 9-0 before Cameron Dicker got Los Angeles on the board with a 23-yard kick.
Cam Hart then intercepted Mahomes in the end zone. It was the type of defensive play that could have kept a difficult road game manageable.
The Chargers' official video shows Hart's interception:
Los Angeles did not turn that stop into a touchdown. Walker scored from two yards out with 1:49 remaining in the half, and Butker added a 50-yard field goal with two seconds left. The Chargers went into halftime down 19-3.
Mahomes finished with 272 passing yards despite the interception. Xavier Worthy caught seven passes for 73 yards, while Travis Kelce contributed five catches for 53. Kansas City played without injured receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton.
Another opportunity shrinks to three points
Johnston's 57-yard catch gave the Chargers a chance to put pressure on Kansas City after halftime. A holding penalty moved them backward, and subsequent plays failed to recover the lost ground. Dicker made a 30-yard field goal with 10:44 left in the third quarter.
That was the final scoring possession for Los Angeles. A replay reversal later awarded the Chargers a fumbled punt return, but the offense again failed to produce points.
Late in the game, KeAndre Lambert-Smith lost the ball after catching a short Justin Herbert pass. L'Jarius Sneed forced the fumble and Drue Tranquill recovered, ending another Chargers possession.
Kansas City's official video captures the takeaway:
Butker added a 30-yard field goal with 3:52 remaining. Herbert completed the game with 204 passing yards and one interception; Los Angeles totaled 259 yards.
The injury list also grew. Ladd McConkey was ruled out with a concussion in the second quarter, and Deane Leonard left with a concussion. Joe Alt, Kayode Awosika, Tre' Harris, Derwin James, Donte Jackson and Bud Dupree had already been unavailable.
Chiefs left tackle Jaylon Moore suffered a concussion. Kelce returned after an ankle issue, while Chris Roland-Wallace was ejected after a fourth-quarter altercation.
Los Angeles now gets its bye before a Week 8 meeting with the Rams. Kansas City goes to Seattle for Sunday Night Football with its unbeaten record intact.
