  • Curry did much of his damage in the third quarter. He opened it with a three-pointer, banked in a jumper, added another three and scored on a running layup. Those four baskets accounted for 10 of his 20 points. His layup with 5:11 left in the period pushed Golden State ahead 94-70.

Curry finished with four rebounds and five assists in 26 minutes. Although he went 3-for-11 from three, the Warriors had enough shooting elsewhere to maintain the lead. Horford made five of his eight attempts from outside, with all 15 of his points coming on threes.

Scoot Henderson supplied 17 points off the bench, all in the second half, as Blazer’s Edge reported. He finished 7-for-16 overall but 1-for-8 from three. Portland’s reserves helped reduce the deficit in the fourth after Golden State entered the period ahead 105-91.

The Blazers won the final quarter 27-23, but the Warriors’ reserves had an answer late. LJ Cryer hit a three with 1:24 remaining to make it 128-115. John Tonje’s three-point play on the next possession completed the scoring.

Golden State finished 18-for-44 from three and 26-for-31 at the line. Portland went 14-for-40 from outside and 20-for-24 on free throws. The loss left the Blazers at 3-1 in preseason, while the Warriors finished 4-2.

The regular season begins for both teams Wednesday: Portland hosts Phoenix, and Golden State visits the Lakers.
