John Abraham is due to enter Atlanta’s Ring of Honor at halftime of Sunday night’s game against Baltimore. The Falcons’ newest tribute also gives fans a chance to hear how teammates remember him and how his work has changed since he stopped chasing quarterbacks.
Abraham will become the Ring of Honor’s 15th member. Atlanta acquired him from the Jets in 2006, and he spent seven seasons with the Falcons. His 68.5 sacks are the franchise’s most since sacks became an official individual statistic in 1982. He reached double figures four times in Atlanta.
Those numbers explain the ceremony. The Falcons’ current film adds the relationships behind them. Matt Ryan recalls Abraham setting the internal clock he learned to use as a young NFL quarterback, while former defensive line coach Ray Hamilton describes giving Abraham freedom to rush from either side.

The John Abraham Story
Read source ↗ Abraham was already established when Ryan arrived as a rookie in 2008. That season, Abraham recorded 16.5 sacks, third in the NFL, including 5.5 during a closing stretch in which Atlanta won five of its final six games. He later earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2010.
The Falcons’ new retrospective also follows his life after football. It describes his advocacy for mental health resources and the degree he earned at South Carolina in liberal studies, with an emphasis in psychology and sociology. The story includes his visits with Marines in Japan and his presence at a Falcons girls flag football clinic supporting his daughter Ayumi.
That part of the portrait belongs beside the football record. The former teammates in the film remember a disruptive pass rusher who also helped a young quarterback feel comfortable in the locker room. The team’s account of Abraham today extends that interest in other people beyond the field.
Sunday’s ceremony takes place during Atlanta’s home game with the Ravens, which starts at 8:20 p.m. Eastern on NBC and Peacock. Audacy’s game-day report confirms the halftime timing. Bill Fralic is the other member of Atlanta’s announced 2026 class, but his posthumous induction is scheduled for the Week 16 home game against Tampa Bay.
