The Cowboys received encouraging injury news Friday: CeeDee Lamb’s quadriceps injury is a bruise, and X-rays on left tackle Tyler Guyton’s back were negative.
Charean Williams reported for NBC Sports that Brian Schottenheimer provided the updates after Dallas’ 24–16 loss to Tampa Bay. Guyton missed the final offensive series, with Broderick Jones replacing him. Lamb moved in and out of the lineup late in the game.
Those updates clarify two of the concerns that followed Thursday night. They do not amount to a game-status designation for Dallas’ next contest, which is October 18 at Green Bay.

The Cowboys’ initial postgame report said Lamb had been dealing with a quadriceps issue the previous week and took another hit in the same area against Tampa Bay. Schottenheimer said immediately after the game that Guyton’s first X-rays looked good, with additional testing still to come.
Friday’s report adds a clearer description of Lamb’s injury and the negative X-ray result for Guyton. Dallas has an extended break between games to monitor both players before preparation for the Packers reaches its final stages.
The news in the secondary was mixed. Joey Porter Jr. was feeling better Friday after an illness kept him out against the Buccaneers. The cornerback arrived at the stadium sick and became inactive before kickoff, removing a player Dallas had expected to use in its home debut following his trade.
Safety Alijah Clark remains day-to-day, according to Schottenheimer’s update reported by NBC. That situation matters in a position group already carrying P.J. Locke and Jalen Thompson on injured reserve. No return date for Clark was announced.
The offensive injuries also came during a difficult night for Dallas. Lamb finished with two catches for nine yards, and the Cowboys rushed for only 50 yards. The team’s immediate task is to improve its performance while keeping the healthier outlook for its starters separate from any assumption about their next-game availability.
For now, the clearest developments are the bruise diagnosis, Guyton’s negative X-rays and Porter’s improvement. Clark’s status remains something to watch as the Cowboys turn toward Green Bay.
