Mike Evans has caught 24 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns through his first five games with San Francisco. Many of those catches have kept the unbeaten 49ers' offense on the field.
The Associated Press reported Wednesday that 91.7 percent of Evans' receptions had produced a first down or touchdown, the highest rate among qualifying receivers. His 11 third-down conversions were tied for the league lead.
Evans has continued playing despite a rib injury suffered in Week 3. Brock Purdy praised that willingness Wednesday, as Nick Shook reported for NFL.com on Thursday.

His size has given Purdy another option against tight coverage. In Sunday's 32-29 win at Seattle, Evans adjusted to a back-shoulder throw for 32 yards on second-and-21 during San Francisco's fourth-quarter comeback. He later caught the two-point conversion following Brandin Cooks' touchdown, according to the 49ers' account of the game.
Evans spent his first 12 NFL seasons with Tampa Bay before joining San Francisco. The 49ers' official statistics list the same 24 catches, 326 yards and three touchdowns through five games.
San Francisco hosts Washington on Monday night.
