Minnesota’s unbeaten start now comes with a reshuffled offensive line

Jackson’s likely season-ending meniscus injury and Darrisaw’s concussion protocol leave the Vikings sorting out their protection after beating Miami.

  • Minnesota’s 15–10 win over Miami came with a problem that will extend well beyond the final score. Monday imaging confirmed a torn meniscus for Donovan Jackson, and Kevin O’Connell said surgery would likely end the starting left guard’s regular season.

The Vikings must also track Christian Darrisaw, who is in concussion protocol. Losing Jackson for an extended period while waiting on the left tackle’s availability puts both positions on the left side of the offensive line under scrutiny. Joe Huber replaced Jackson Sunday; Ryan Van Demark played in place of Darrisaw.

  • Huber joined Minnesota in 2025 as an undrafted rookie. O’Connell praised his physical play and preparation, including the time he has spent working at center and with Blake Brandel. The coach said that experience has broadened Huber’s ability to contribute at multiple positions.

  • The Vikings’ Monday report, citing Pro Football Focus, said Huber did not allow a sack or quarterback hit in 71 snaps against Miami. Van Demark likewise was not assessed with allowing a sack or hit in his 36 snaps. Those figures describe Sunday’s performance; they do not settle the next starting lineup.

Darrisaw initially exited with a neck injury, returned, then left again after a different play and entered concussion protocol. O’Connell said the team was working through the initial stages and would provide updates during the week. His availability remains unresolved.

Center Michael Jurgens and tight end Ben Yurosek, both on injured reserve, are expected to begin practicing this week and be evaluated. That is a practice plan, not an announcement that either player has been activated.

  • O’Connell’s confidence in Huber gives Minnesota an identified option rather than an empty position. The harder part is maintaining that depth while Darrisaw works through the protocol. The early prognosis makes Jackson’s loss an extended roster issue, with the final lineup still dependent on the week’s availability decisions.
