  • Michael Porter Jr. scored 22 points, Julius Randle handed out nine assists, and Brooklyn's offense kept producing after halftime in a 131-122 preseason win over Washington on Monday. The Nets shot 46-for-81 from the field and made 17 threes at Capital One Arena.

Porter made eight of 13 shots in 24 minutes. Randle finished with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting, four rebounds and nine assists in 23 minutes. Their starting group helped Brooklyn emerge from a high-scoring first half with a 73-72 lead before the Nets created more separation in the third quarter.

  • Brooklyn won that period 30-22 to take a 103-94 advantage into the fourth. Washington had scored 40 points in the second quarter, but its offense slowed after the break while the Nets continued finding points across their lineup.

  • Nolan Traore added 17 points off the bench on 6-for-8 shooting. Keon Ellis and Noah Clowney each scored 15, and Moritz Wagner supplied 13. Clowney made four of six threes; Ellis hit three of four. Six Brooklyn players finished in double figures.

Sportsnet's accompanying result report independently confirmed the 131-122 final, Porter's 22 points and Randle's nine assists.

  • The Nets still had to protect their lead in the final minutes. Washington was within five at 124-119 before Terance Mann banked in a long jumper from a Ben Saraf pass with 1:57 remaining. Grant Nelson added a second-chance basket, and Josh Minott's two free throws pushed Brooklyn to 131 points. Will Riley's late three supplied Washington's final score.

  • Kyshawn George led the Wizards with 21 points, shooting 6-for-7 from the field and making all three of his three-point attempts. Bilal Coulibaly added 19. AJ Dybantsa and Bub Carrington each scored 14, while Tre Johnson had 13.

Trae Young recorded 11 points and 11 assists for Washington, though he also committed eight turnovers. The Wizards finished with 23 total turnovers, including team turnovers. Brooklyn had 19. That made the game more uneven than two teams combining for 34 made threes might suggest.

Washington shot 39-for-77 and made 17 of 36 threes, while Brooklyn's 17 came on 41 attempts. The Nets had 29 assists and 50 points in the paint; the Wizards had 30 assists and 38 paint points. Washington also made 27 of 29 free throws, keeping its scoring efficient despite the turnovers.

Brooklyn's scoring depth gave it enough offense to withstand those stretches. Its bench kept contributing after Porter and Randle's minutes ended, and the closing baskets prevented Washington from turning a five-point deficit into a late comeback.

Porter led the scoring without taking more than 13 shots, while Randle supplied almost a third of Brooklyn's assists. Traore, Clowney and Wagner then combined for 45 points off the bench, giving the Nets another source of offense beyond their starters.
