  • The Milwaukee Brewers started celebrating a World Series Game 1 win on Friday night, then had to go back out and get one more out.

With the Brewers up 3-1 in the ninth and the bases loaded, Liam Hicks hit a grounder to second that Milwaukee turned into what looked like a game-ending double play. The Rays challenged, and the call was overturned. Jorge Mateo scored, and the game went on with two outs, runners on second and third and the tying run 90 feet away.

  • FOX's broadcast account posted the replay asking whether Cooper Pratt's foot was off the bag. The review went Tampa Bay's way, and the Rays suddenly had life in a game they had trailed since the first inning.

  • Trevor Megill then struck out Jonny DeLuca swinging, and Milwaukee had a 3-2 win and its first World Series victory since 1982, per MLB.

  • The Rays got there without the long ball. Chandler Simpson and Mateo pulled off a double steal against Megill to put two runners in scoring position, and Junior Caminero followed with a walk. Tampa Bay didn't hit a home run all night and still had the tying run on third with two outs.

The rest of the game belonged to Milwaukee. Christian Yelich tripled in a run and William Contreras singled in another in the first inning, Jackson Chourio added a two-out RBI single in the seventh, and Jacob Misiorowski allowed one run in five innings. Aaron Ashby threw 1 2/3 hitless innings in relief.

  • Tampa Bay's Jonathan Aranda went 3 for 3 with a walk. Nick Martinez allowed two runs in five innings and took the loss. Milwaukee leads the series 1-0.
