Runyon returns to Raiders practice with an active-roster decision still ahead

Las Vegas’ tight-end depth takes a step forward, with the 21-day window separating practice from activation.

  • Carter Runyon is back on the Raiders’ practice field, with a roster decision still to come. Las Vegas opened the second-year tight end’s 21-day return window Wednesday after his extended stay on injured reserve. Las Vegas’ transaction list confirms his return to practice; the move does not itself put him back on the active roster.

Runyon went on injured reserve August 30 after not appearing in the preseason. NBC Sports reported that his injury was undisclosed. He became eligible to return last week after missing four games.

The distinction matters as the Raiders prepare to host Buffalo on Sunday. The window lets Runyon practice while the team evaluates him, and Las Vegas can activate him during that period. No activation date or game-status decision was announced with Wednesday’s move.

  • Runyon appeared in 13 games as a rookie in 2025. His role was primarily on special teams: NBC Sports credited him with 206 special-teams snaps and 45 offensive snaps. His official career record lists one catch for three yards.

His return was one of several practice developments Wednesday. Bill Williamson reported that rookie offensive lineman Trey Zuhn also returned after missing Week 5 with a knee injury. For Runyon, the confirmed step is a return to the practice field after an extended absence, with the roster decision still ahead.
