  • Erik Sandvik kicked a 21-yard field goal in overtime as Wyoming rallied to beat San José State 16–13 on Friday night at CEFCU Stadium. Sandvik made all three of his field-goal attempts, providing 10 of the Cowboys’ 16 points in a game they trailed by seven entering the fourth quarter.

Wyoming’s defense gave him the opening. San José State had the first overtime possession and reached the Cowboys’ 16-yard line, but Luke Weaver’s fourth-down pass fell incomplete. The Spartans came away without points, leaving Wyoming needing only a field goal to win.

Tyler Hughes helped move the Cowboys into position with runs of 6 and 12 yards. Wyoming reached the 1 before a 2-yard loss pushed it back to the 3. Sandvik then finished the game with his shortest field goal of the evening.

  • The Spartans recovered a Wyoming fumble early in the third quarter and turned the possession into Trajan Sinatra’s 22-yard field goal. Sinatra later connected from 27 yards to extend the lead to 13–6.

  • San José State had another opportunity late in regulation. Its final possession reached Wyoming territory before a sack pushed the Spartans back to the Cowboys’ 48. They punted, and Wyoming’s remaining possession ended without a score.
