Warren’s two long touchdowns carry Steelers past Colts, 34-22

Rodgers throws three touchdown passes, and Freiermuth scores twice as Pittsburgh answers Indianapolis’s five field goals.

  • Jaylen Warren scored on an 80-yard reception and a 50-yard run, and Pat Freiermuth caught two touchdown passes as Pittsburgh beat Indianapolis 34-22 on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers improved to 3-2, while the Colts fell to 2-3.

    Warren finished with 101 rushing yards on 15 carries and six catches for another 87 yards. His first touchdown gave Pittsburgh a 7-3 lead in the opening quarter, just 12 seconds after Spencer Shrader had put Indianapolis ahead with a 57-yard field goal.

    Aaron Rodgers absorbed a hit from defensive tackle Grover Stewart while getting the ball to Warren, who accelerated down the sideline. The NFL's native video shows the catch-and-run that changed Pittsburgh's start after its opening possession lost 15 yards.

  • Indianapolis repeatedly stayed close by getting points from Shrader, who made all five of his field-goal attempts. Tyler Warren supplied the Colts' only touchdown on a one-yard run in the second quarter. Chris Boswell's 48-yard field goal with 21 seconds left before halftime sent Pittsburgh to the break ahead 17-13.

    The Colts cut that margin to one point on their first possession after halftime. Pittsburgh answered with Jaylen Warren's second long score, a 50-yard run with 7:06 left in the third quarter that stretched the lead to 24-16.

  • Two more Shrader field goals brought Indianapolis within 24-22 early in the fourth quarter. Rodgers then led the possession that gave Pittsburgh breathing room. Germie Bernard caught a 25-yard pass, Warren converted a fourth down, and Freiermuth scored on a 17-yard reception with 6:35 remaining. Boswell added a 54-yard field goal after the Steelers stopped Indianapolis on fourth down.

  • Rodgers completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Freiermuth had five catches for 44 yards, including his earlier one-yard touchdown, while Bernard finished with six receptions for 80 yards.

    Daniel Jones completed 24 of 44 passes for 267 yards without an interception. Tyler Warren caught seven passes for 83 yards. Jonathan Taylor gained 45 yards on 15 carries and added 37 receiving yards.

    Pittsburgh visits Tampa Bay next Sunday. Indianapolis returns home to face Tennessee.
