Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis had a medical emergency at the school's athletic facility Wednesday and was taken to the hospital, his father, T.C. Lewis, announced Thursday.
In his post on X, T.C. Lewis said his son is "recovering and thankful to his medical team, teammates and Colorado fans for their prayers and support." He did not say what happened, and the family said it has no further comment for now. Colorado has not added details.
That is all anyone actually knows, and it should be enough to shut down the guessing. Lewis is a sophomore, and the only update that matters this week is the one his family gives when they are ready.

Lewis was listed as doubtful on the first Big 12 availability report Wednesday night, before the news came out.
His season had already been a hard one. He arrived as the No. 12 overall recruit in the 2025 SC Next 300, according to ESPN, and he started Colorado's first four games, throwing for 733 yards on 64% passing with seven total touchdowns and three turnovers. He was benched during the Big 12 opener, a 23-13 loss at Baylor, and has not played since. Isaac Wilson has started the last three games.
The Buffaloes are 2-5 and 0-5 in the Big 12. Deion Sanders was asked Tuesday whether Lewis was still competing for the job, and he declined to go there. He said he did not want to give an answer that could look like "taking a shot at a kid."
That instinct is the right one now for everybody around the program. The depth chart, the benching and any talk about his future in Boulder can be argued about later.
What to watch: Colorado hosts Kansas State on Saturday. Look for any update from the Lewis family or the school before then, and for whether Sanders addresses it when he speaks to reporters this week.
