Kevin Cash says the Rays have a 'chip and a chair' as they face a World Series sweep
Tampa Bay won 98 games and rolled through the American League, then got outscored and outplayed for three straight games. Only one of the 43 teams before them came back from 3-0 in a best-of-seven, and it wasn't in a World Series.

Rays manager Kevin Cash says his team still has a chip and a chair. After Monday's 10-1 loss to Milwaukee, which left Tampa Bay down 3-0 in the World Series, that is about all it has left going into Game 4 tonight at Tropicana Field at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
"It's kind of that chip and a chair mentality," Cash said, according to the Associated Press. "We've got a seat at the table. We've got to do something with the chip. Obviously the only thing we can do is win tomorrow."
Monday was the worst night yet. Milwaukee scored eight runs in the fifth inning, all with two outs, on a postseason-record seven straight hits. ALCS MVP Freddy Peralta, pitching against his former team, gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings. Brewers rookie Robert Gasser faced the minimum through six innings, and thousands of Milwaukee fans cheered behind the visitors' dugout in the Rays' own building.

Tampa Bay won 98 games and went 55-26 at home this season. ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote that the Rays need to remember the last three games are not who they are. They also need Griffin Jax, who hasn't pitched since Oct. 15, to get the game deep enough to matter. Milwaukee answers with a bullpen game started by Dustin May, and its top relievers are all rested.
Cash put Jonathan Aranda and Liam Hicks back in the lineup tonight after sitting both on Monday for platoon reasons. That is the right call and it is late. Tampa Bay went into Game 3 trying to play matchups and came out of it facing elimination.
The history is ugly. Of the 43 teams to trail a best-of-seven postseason series 3-0 before this one, only the 2004 Red Sox came back, and that was an ALCS.
What to watch: Whether Jax can get through the Milwaukee order twice. The Brewers have won eight straight, and a win tonight gives them the franchise's first title on the Rays' field.
