Myles Garrett still isn't practicing. Rams coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that the defensive end will not practice this week, so he will miss a seventh straight game when Los Angeles plays the Chargers on Sunday, Fox Sports reported.
It was not the update the Rams had been pointing toward. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted that McVay had expressed optimism Garrett would practice this week. "It's another week of no practice," Rapoport wrote. "The wait continues."
McVay asked for patience. "I know it's frustrating, but he's making good progress, and we're just on a week-to-week basis right now," he said. He said Garrett has not had a setback and that he doesn't expect further surgery.

Garrett has been on injured reserve since knee surgery that followed his Rams debut in Australia, a game in which he did not record a tackle. Los Angeles sent defensive end Jared Verse and three high draft picks to Cleveland for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, who was supposed to anchor a rebuilt defense.
The trade has not paid off on the field yet. They have 10 sacks, fewer than all but four teams, after recording 47 last season, according to Fox Sports. Garrett had played at least 16 games in each of the previous five seasons.
The offense is short too. McVay said receiver Davante Adams had hamstring surgery and that the team is optimistic he will return close to the six-week minimum. Tight end Terrance Ferguson won't practice this week either, ESPN's Sarah Barshop reported.
Sunday's opponent has its own injury news. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that safety Derwin James had a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and could go on injured reserve, Pro Football Talk reported. If that happens before the Rams game, James could not return until Week 12 at the earliest. He hasn't played since Week 3.
