Ryan Flournoy signed a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, keeping the wide receiver under contract through the 2027 season. The agreement gives the club another year with a player who turned a difficult roster path into a steady place in the lineup.
Dallas released Flournoy after training camp in 2025, then brought him back. He made the most of the second opportunity and finished the season as the Cowboys' third wide receiver. The team also announced an extension for tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford, who is signed through 2029.
Flournoy's 2025 production shows why Dallas wanted to keep the development moving. He appeared in 16 games with four starts, catching 40 passes for 475 yards and four touchdowns. The season represented a significant step from his 2024 rookie campaign, when he played in 11 games with one start and recorded 10 receptions for 102 yards without a touchdown.
His role grew beyond the passing game. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer pointed to Flournoy's value on offense and special teams, a combination that helped him remain useful as the roster changed around him. That versatility should give the Cowboys another reliable option as they shape the receiver rotation for the coming seasons.
The one-year extension also settles a contract situation that could have sent Flournoy into restricted free agency after the 2026 season. His 2025 waiver and practice-squad move had replaced the original rookie contract, creating that possibility.
For managers in dynasty and contract leagues, the extra season gives a clearer picture of where Flournoy will compete for opportunities. His increase from 10 to 40 catches is useful evidence of a growing role, but the contract by itself should not be priced as another jump in production.
The new deal secures Flournoy's spot in the Cowboys' plans, though it does not guarantee a particular weekly target count. Those opportunities will still depend on the team's health, game plans and how the rest of the receiver room develops.
