  • The Philadelphia Eagles lost their fifth straight game on Monday night, falling 38-21 to the Dallas Cowboys at home. A team that opened 2-0 is now 2-5, and the defense just gave up its most points of the season.

The Eagles had the lead late in the third quarter. Tanner McKee hit rookie Makai Lemon from 4 yards with 5:44 left in the period, Lemon's first NFL touchdown, and Philadelphia was up 21-20. Dallas scored every point after that.

Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb from 16 yards with 1:30 left in the third and ran in the two-point conversion himself for a 28-21 lead. Brandon Aubrey added a 24-yard field goal with 9:10 to go. On the next Philadelphia possession, DeMarvion Overshown intercepted McKee.

  • Javonte Williams finished it. He ran 25 times for 155 yards, with a long of 34, and scored from 2 yards with 2:21 left. Dallas ran for 204 yards as a team and outgained Philadelphia 416 to 321 without turning the ball over.

  • Eagles beat writer Zach Berman posted that Dallas had scored on six of its first seven drives when Aubrey's late field goal made it 31-21, and that the 38 points were the most allowed since Vic Fangio took over the defense. Before Monday, no opponent had scored more than 27 on Philadelphia this season.

  • McKee went 23 of 35 for 211 yards with the touchdown and the interception, and he was sacked twice. Lemon led the Eagles with seven catches for 67 yards. Dallas Goedert had five for 48. Saquon Barkley averaged 8.9 yards a carry and scored from 8 yards in the first quarter, yet he got the ball only seven times for 62 yards. Dameon Pierce carried 14 times for 47 yards and a touchdown.

  • On the other side, Prescott was 15 of 27 for 212 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Lamb caught two of them, and George Pickens had a 21-yarder before halftime. Aubrey made all three field-goal tries, including a 55-yarder on the opening drive.

The skid has come in every shape. Philadelphia lost 27-7 in Chicago, then dropped one-score games to the Rams (24-20) and Jaguars (19-17), and lost 25-14 at home to Carolina before Monday. Seven carries for Barkley in a game the Eagles led into the fourth quarter will be the first thing fans ask Nick Sirianni about this week.

Dallas moves to 3-4. The Eagles visit the Washington Commanders next Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. ET, a team they beat 24-22 in Week 1.
