Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle's November 2021 Architectural Digest tour has a very good answer to a cold afternoon: head downstairs. The Edmonton home includes a basement lounge and bar alongside a basketball half court. Watch their official tour.
For anyone who has had a casual game ruined by the weather, that court is an easy thing to want. No checking the forecast before inviting people over. No losing the ball in a neighbor's yard. Just enough room to argue about whether the last shot counted, then head back to the lounge. We'd expect a few supposedly quick games to swallow an entire weekend.
The tour introduces a three-story home that McDavid and Kyle created with Design Two Group. Its entertaining spaces are a useful reminder that the best fantasy house is one you can picture filling with friends. Having somewhere for everyone to gather matters more to us than finding a room to impress people who will never visit. AD's original tour page has the background on the build.
We're revisiting the home they showed in 2021. Take the walkthrough at your own pace and see where you'd spend a day off. Our first stop would be the court, although an afternoon on the lounge furniture would be hard to argue with. Would you rather host the game or keep score from the sofa?
