Jimmy Butler's Southern California home comes with a temptation for anyone who has ever planned a morning around coffee: a BIGFACE shop inside. His October 2024 Architectural Digest tour gives the cafe its own stop, and we'd happily start there. Watch Butler's official tour.
A coffee machine on the kitchen counter is convenient. A place where making a cup feels like going out is the part we'd want to borrow. You could put on shoes and leave the house, or you could decide that your favorite table is already waiting downstairs. There would be very little chance of us making it to the office on time.
Designer Tiffany Brooks helped shape the home. AD's tour also visits a live-music room, a conservatory and a wine cellar with a medieval feel. That cellar makes a persuasive argument for extending a coffee visit into dinner. Pick a bottle, settle in and let someone else decide when the evening is over. AD's original feature and tour provide the full look.
This is a return to the home as Butler presented it in 2024. The pleasure is in choosing which indulgence you'd actually use. We suspect the coffee shop would get far more traffic than a formal dining room in our version of the place. Watch the tour and make your call: morning coffee at home, or an evening in that wine cellar?
