Trevor Lawrence kept changing the destination, and Cleveland never caught up. Parker Washington, Josh Cameron, Brenton Strange and Jakobi Meyers each caught a touchdown pass Sunday as Jacksonville opened its season with a 34–10 victory over the Browns.

The Jaguars scored on their first four possessions, took a 24–0 lead into halftime and added another touchdown before Cleveland scored. Lawrence finished 18 of 23 for 245 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, leaving with the result settled in the fourth quarter.

Jacksonville’s defense gave him short fields and time to work. Five sacks and two takeaways disrupted Cleveland, and the Jaguars turned both of those takeaways into touchdowns.

Washington set the pace

Cleveland’s opening drive ended with Foye Oluokun intercepting Deshaun Watson at the Jacksonville 19. Oluokun’s 22-yard return put the Jaguars at their own 41, and Lawrence needed eight plays to convert that opportunity into the first score.

Washington finished the possession with a diving 30-yard touchdown catch. He was Jacksonville’s busiest receiver, catching five passes for 83 yards, with all of that production coming before halftime, according to News4JAX’s game report.

Lawrence then found rookie Cameron for a 4-yard touchdown to finish a 74-yard drive. By the end of the first quarter, Jacksonville led 14–0 and had already shown that Cleveland could not focus its coverage on one target.

Cam Little’s 47-yard field goal extended the lead before another Browns turnover gave the Jaguars an opening. Josh Hines-Allen recovered a KC Concepcion fumble, and Lawrence connected with Strange for a 14-yard touchdown. Jacksonville carried four scoring possessions and a 24-point cushion into the break.

No opening after halftime

Any Cleveland recovery depended on changing the game quickly after the interval. Instead, Lawrence found Meyers for a 32-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, pushing the margin to 31–0.

That completion gave Lawrence four different touchdown recipients. He completed passes to nine players overall, while Bhayshul Tuten supplied 66 rushing yards on 15 carries. Jacksonville finished with 360 yards of offense, including 126 on the ground.

The Jaguars also prevented Cleveland from establishing a dependable rushing answer. The Browns totaled 87 rushing yards, with Quinshon Judkins managing 33 on 12 attempts. Watson took five sacks and finished 16 of 22 for 205 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

A comfortable finish earned early

Cleveland finally scored on an Andre Szmyt field goal in the third quarter. Little answered with a 40-yarder, and Lawrence left with 8:12 remaining in the fourth and Jacksonville ahead 34–3.

Watson’s 46-yard touchdown pass to Denzel Boston came with 1:52 left, after the competitive portion of the game had ended. Jacksonville had done its decisive work much earlier: a takeaway on Cleveland’s first possession, consecutive touchdown drives, and enough pressure to keep the Browns from answering. Lawrence’s accuracy and the spread of his scoring targets turned that early advantage into a comfortable opener.
