The Arizona Cardinals lost to the Denver Broncos 30-16 on Sunday, and that makes 10 straight home losses for a team that hasn't won at State Farm Stadium in 406 days, according to the Associated Press. They picked Larry Fitzgerald's Ring of Honor day to keep the streak going.
This one didn't have to get away. Arizona had 24 first downs to Denver's 18, held the ball for more than 33 minutes and didn't turn it over. It still scored one touchdown in five trips to the red zone.
The first trip set the tone. Down 6-0 early in the second quarter, Bam Knight dropped a potential touchdown in the end zone on third down, and Chad Ryland kicked a 30-yard field goal. The Cardinals kicked three field goals on the day and went 5 for 17 on third down.

Then the defense gave up the play of the game. With the score tied 6-6, Bo Nix stepped up in the pocket and found a hole big enough to jog through. He went 62 yards for a touchdown, the longest run by a quarterback in Broncos history. Nix had 37 rushing yards across his first six games.
Midway through the third quarter, RJ Harvey caught a screen and ran 52 yards without being touched. When Trey McBride's 7-yard touchdown cut it to 20-13, Denver needed one drive, highlighted by a 47-yard pass to Marvin Mims Jr., to push it back to two scores.
"We've got to play better," first-year Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said. "We had too many penalties, we had opportunities to make plays and we didn't."
He's right about the penalties: Arizona had nine for 59 yards. Denver had 11 for 114 and still won by two touchdowns.
McBride did his part with 10 catches for 111 yards. Jacoby Brissett threw for 272 yards, but it took him 48 attempts, and he was hit 12 times. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love missed his second straight game with a sore ankle, and the Cardinals ran for 94 yards without him.
Arizona is 2-5 and plays at Dallas next Sunday.
