The Warriors rest Curry and Green against a Clippers team on a four-game skid

Golden State is sitting Stephen Curry and Draymond Green tonight on the front end of a back-to-back. The Clippers, 1-4 and missing Brandon Ingram and Bradley Beal, may not be able to make them pay.

  • The Golden State Warriors are giving Stephen Curry and Draymond Green the night off against the LA Clippers at Chase Center. Both are listed out for injury management, per ESPN's injury report and Underdog NBA, and tipoff is 8:30 p.m. ET on NBA League Pass and ClipperVision.

  • Anthony Slater reported that the plan clears both of them for Monday night against Phoenix, the back end of the back-to-back. Al Horford plays tonight and would sit against the Suns. Kristaps Porzingis is also out with an illness, and Moses Moody is out with a knee injury.

  • Picking the night to rest

Load management usually draws boos. This one is hard to argue with. Curry is averaging 29.2 points, and Golden State has won three straight, including a 112-95 win over the Lakers on Friday, to get to 3-3.

  • The Clippers are the team you would pick to rest your stars against. They are 1-4, 0-3 on the road and have lost four in a row: at the Lakers 125-117, at Oklahoma City 108-101, at home to the Lakers 103-87 and at Minnesota 127-101 on Friday. Their only win came against Sacramento, which is 0-6.

LA is also short-handed. Brandon Ingram, Bradley Beal, Max Strus, Jordan Miller and Yanic Konan Niederhauser are all out, per ESPN. Darius Garland is carrying the offense at 22.0 points and 6.2 assists a game.

    The risk for Golden State

Sitting two starters still hands the Clippers their best shot at a win in a week. The Warriors are 1-1 at home, and their only home loss came 111-108 to Memphis. If a team with five players out walks into San Francisco and wins, the debate about resting stars in early November will get louder.

  • What to watch

Watch who takes Curry's shots. Golden State will lean on its bench and Horford, and the Clippers have to show whether Garland can win a game on his own. Then watch Monday's report: if Curry and Green play in Phoenix as planned, the plan did what Golden State wanted.
