Saquon Barkley isn't going anywhere, and he says the Eagles told him so.
After Sunday night's 27-10 loss at Washington, Barkley said the front office has assured him he will be on the team past the Nov. 10 trade deadline, ESPN's Tim McManus reported. "When that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot," Barkley said. "I feel like I'm the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it, and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it."
He was blunter about the season. "I would love to be here. I don't like the way the season's going," Barkley said, according to reporter Brooks Kubena. He also said he doesn't want to "jump ship," adding, "That's not the type of person I am," according to reporter Johnny McGonigal.

That's the right answer from a star, and it doesn't change the problem. Philadelphia has lost six straight and is 2-6. Barkley has been playing through hamstring and back injuries and was on the field for only 22 of 68 snaps Sunday, finishing with 14 touches for 54 yards and a touchdown, per ESPN. A running back with that kind of workload doesn't fix an offense that scored 10 points.
The question was fair to ask, too. Howie Roseman is one of the league's most active traders, and he already made a seller's move in October, sending offensive lineman Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Baltimore for a 2027 fifth and a 2028 second. Keeping Barkley tells you the Eagles aren't tearing it down. It doesn't tell you what else might go before the deadline.
What's next: The Eagles get one more game before the deadline, at home against the NFC East-leading Giants (4-2-1) on Sunday. Lose that one, and every other veteran's name will come up again.
