The Sacramento Kings are on the board. Rookie Darius Acuff Jr. scored 25 points and the Kings beat the Dallas Mavericks 115-100 on Monday night in Dallas, per the AP recap on ESPN, for their first win in seven games this season.
Sacramento was the last NBA team without a win. It's 1-6 now. Dallas drops to 4-3 after a three-game winning streak.
The Kings shot their way out
Malik Monk scored 24 points on 9 of 14 shooting, with five 3-pointers and seven assists, and the Kings were plus-27 with him on the floor. Zach LaVine added 23 and went 5 of 9 from deep. Leaky Black made 4 of 6 threes, scored 12 and had four steals.

As a team, Sacramento went 19 of 43 from 3-point range. Dallas went 7 of 33. That gap is the whole game.
The Kings led 54-53 at halftime and won the fourth quarter 34-26, per the ESPN box score.
A rough night for Flagg
Cooper Flagg scored 17 points, but 11 of them came at the line, where he was perfect. He made 3 of 19 shots from the floor, missed all four of his 3-point tries and turned it over six times. Daniel Gafford was the efficient one for Dallas, going 9 of 10 for 20 points, and Walter Clayton Jr. added 20 off 6 of 9 shooting.
Dallas played without Kyrie Irving, who sat to rest his left knee.
The RANT take
Two nights ago Acuff scored 38 and the Kings still lost by 31. This time he needed 21 shots to get 25, and it didn't matter, because the veterans finally showed up around him. That's the version of this team that can win some games. One road win over a Mavericks team missing Irving doesn't fix an 0-6 start, though, and Sacramento still turned it over 20 times.
The test comes fast. The Kings host the Lakers on Wednesday night, and Dallas visits San Antonio the same night.
